Sweet. Mac has a white water club. And the beginner's class isn't on a busy day, and I can sleep late the morning after. Sounds like fun. That and fencing. There's also the poster monkey club. Might not do Mondays, as Mondays are awful, but Thursdays'll work.

(What can I say? I spent last year alternately panicking and being dead bored. Might as well find something neat this time.)

Also, why on earth is the chess club listed with the religious clubs?

Dear McMaster,

Is currently August 11. Want my timetable now. Plz to not be insisting it is the 10th.

Kthxbye,

I have a room! It's small, but there's a common room, and I'm not planning on spending all my time in my room. The master bedroom is much larger, but the girl who my mum heard about the house from in the first place already signed the lease for it, so I'm out of luck there. It's a very nice house--the previous owner got it from her parents, who had built it. All hardwood floored and everything. Got to buy a bed for it, though. I might get one of those bunks that you can put a desk and stuff underneath, to save space.

Managed to get into German, French, and one second-year linguistics course (the development of Indo-European languages). The other two were full, so I've got three third-year courses instead--syntax, semantics, and morphology. With any luck they will not be too reliant on second-year courses, but since only the introductory linguistics classes were required, they shouldn't be. However, I'm going to keep checking to see if either of the second-year courses opens up before start of term. I've also got a bird course recommended by my previous roommate and a spare, which I tentatively filled in with Mohawk before remembering that I could try for the third-year courses. It's still there, but something else will probably take the space.

Sushi today! I liked it, but mum was disappointed, which makes me feel bad. Salmon maki is omnomnom, as always.

Dear Canada Post (and other thoughts)
Dear Canada Post.

While I am delighted that you are taking such pleasure in my applying to UTM, I do wish that you'd let me open my envelopes on my own. You see, though I do appreciate how hard some may find it to open an envelope, I do not.

Thanks,
Green Bird

PS: Why'd you leave the McMaster package sealed?

In a freak twist of events, I appear to have been accepted at York U. I am not entirely sure how, or why they didn't send me a letter; I was at their site looking to see what paperwork I needed when I found out. Bizzare.

Applications are due Wednesday, and I'm panicking. Going for a BA honours in English seemed like a good idea, but is it really the most useful thing? And while European studies sounded like a decent backup, my current French teacher has pretty much stripped me of all desire to continue with the language, and there's no way I'll be able to pick up another language in five years. Not to mention the fact that I have no idea what exactly I would do with it. (Dear purple gods, I am not  going to work at AR fulltime.)

An English BaHon at least held the possibility of the rather tempting profession of working as a literary agent, which I think I would enjoy. But the requirements are probably more than just that, and I'm not sure who to ask. My guidance councillor just gave me the same site I'd found on my own, a list of websites of literary agencies. Sounds a bit awkward to say, "Hello, I was wondering what I need to do to get into your profession."

Perhaps I shall be struck by a bolt of inspiration. Queens, at least, gives me unti February to finalize my course choice within the arts.
